Pupil Illness

Whilst in school, care of the children is the responsibility of the Class Teacher, in consultation with the Senior Leadership Team and Welfare Assistant.

Should a child become ill during school time, the Welfare Assistant will contact a parent to collect the child. It is therefore important that we have details of where we can contact parents.

If a child has been sick or is suffering from diarrhoea, we request that they be kept away from school for 48 hours since the last bout of sickness, to minimise the risk of other children becoming infected.

Children suffering from chicken pox should be absent for 5 days from the onset of the rash (irrespective of the presence of scales), measles 4 days from the onset of the rash, German measles 6 days from the onset of the rash and for mumps 5 days after the onset of swelling. Please inform the school immediately if your child has any of the above diseases, so that we can inform the school community.

In all cases of absence, please leave telephone or email the school office. If your child has a medical appointment during school hours, please let us have a copy of the appointment letter.
