Farewell to Mrs Bolton

This week, we said goodbye to Jane Bolton, our Inclusion Manager after almost 20 years at St. Andrew's School. Jane has supported hundreds of families over the years, particularly families of pupils with special educational needs.
She was also the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the school.

On behalf of the staff, governors and parents, we thank Jane for her huge contribution to SEND. We will miss her expertise and experience but wish her all the very best for her retirement.

Miss Izzet

We also say goodbye for now to Sophie Izzet, our 3W class teacher, as she begins her maternity leave. We look forward to hearing some exciting news in May.
Good luck, Sophie!  We welcome Mrs Yalezan to St. Andrew's,
she will be the new 3W teacher after Easter.

5W present a wonderful Easter Service

The children in 5W led the Easter Service this week at St. Andrew's Church.
They narrated the Easter Story and brought it to life with a great performance.
The church was filled with wonderful singing from the children in Y2 to Y6
and Fr. Steve led prayers and a blessing at the end.
Thank you to Ms Corbett and to the 5W pupils for a lovely service.

Debating Team made us all proud!

This week, our Debating Team took part in the ETSP Final at Chace Community School. The 5 girls put so much effort into their research, making their own notes on the issue about restricting access to social media.

The standard was high across the six final teams and our team put in a fantastic performance. They all spoke with confidence, shared the roles when giving their points of view and were able to respond to the responses from the other team. Congratulations to St. Michael's who won the overall final.

We are so very proud of Hiba, Freya, Moyin, Alice and Layla. A huge thank you to Mrs Anderson for her time and effort in supporting the girls to reach a high standard. Also, thanks to the families who came to support on both evenings.

PTA news

Get ready for our summer 'Festival on the Field' on Saturday 27th June.
It promises to be a fun-filled event with live music, food and football, as well as the usual bouncy castles and summer stalls.

Competition Time

The PTA would like the flyer for the summer festival
to be designed by the children.

Calling all budding artists! This is your opportunity to help bring our summer music festival to life by designing the official poster.

Let your imagination run wild over the Easter holidays.
Create a bright, bold and beautiful poster
that captures the exciting spirit of the festival!
Make your poster as colourful as you can.
Remember, it needs to be A4 size and in portrait format.
Don’t forget to include the festival’s title:
St. Andrew’s
Festival on the Field
Saturday 27 June 1p.m. – 5 p.m.

Hand in your design to your teacher by Friday 17 April
for your chance to see your artwork come to life!

What else has been happening around the school?

A huge thank you to the PTA for buying every child an Easter chocolate treat to take home. The playground areas have been filled with excitement
during 14 Easter Egg hunts!

Reception children have also been looking for signs of Easter around the school grounds, using their clipboards.

Year 1 and Year 2 children paid a visit to Holtwhites Bakery this week, to buy a hot cross bun. They also linked their RE learning about Easter with a nature walk along the river.

Year 4 children have been super busy with their gymnastics unit, developing strength and agility skills using the wall bars, benches and stools. Also, learning to perfect a running stitch in DT, to make a fabric book sleeve.

Year 6 enjoyed a trip to Aldersbrook Park this morning, as part of their REWARD FRIDAY agreement. Every week, if they have demonstrated kindness and good behaviour, they can choose a reward on Friday. It is that easy! So far, they have chosen to wear slippers in the classroom, a board games afternoon, no homework and a trip to the park.
