A message from the School Office

Parent Portal App - messages sent from school

We hope that parents are now regularly looking at the Arbor parent portal
and getting used to the new school system.  All parents received an email last month with the details you need to log in and set this up.

A kind reminder to install the parent portal app.  With the app installed, parents will receive a notification when a message has been sent. This has already started via the in-app messaging service.

Please ensure you have turned on your notifications.

We can see that some parents have not read their messages, so please spend some time installing the app and setting up your notifications.

Please pop into the office to ask for the login details to be re-sent by email, if you are unable to locate them.

We send huge thanks to all parents who have already installed the parent portal app.

Debating Team through to the final

Congratulations to our Debating Team, who performed brilliantly last week to secure a place in the ETSP Debating Final at Chace Community School. Alice, Layla, Hiba, Moyin and Freya spoke with confidence as they used their skills of knowledge, persuasion and teamwork to earn their place. Thanks to Mrs Anderson and Mrs Statham for coaching and supporting the team.
Good Luck next week!

Year 3 Easter Experience at the Baptist Church

Last week, the Year 3 children travelled back in time to meet some of the people who were part of the Easter story. They loved the opportunity to dress up and be a part of the experience. The event was linked to their RE work about Christianity.

Singing Club

Every Wednesday, after school, you can hear the beautiful sounds of the Year 1 and 2 Singing Club, drifting down the corridor, as they gather together to have fun with singing.

A couple of weeks ago, the group enjoyed an adventure to Palmers Green, where they joined 180 children at Hazelwood School to take part in the Enfield Music Service Partnership Festival. All schools sang a range of songs, including a Welsh lullaby and a three part round. They also performed their own song to a very appreciative audience.

It was a wonderful opportunity and the children  even enjoyed a sing-song on the way back to school! Our special outing and weekly club have been enjoyed by all. A big thank you to Mrs Meekin and Miss Jones for running this club.

Mysterious plates of fruit in Year 6
and a sunny walk along the river in Year 4

This week, our Year 6 pupils received a mysterious plate of fruit in class, along with a letter and a warning. The children discussed reasons why they should or should not eat the fruit. Both classes agreed to eat the fruit and enjoyed the selection! However, upon eating the fruit, they discovered another note hidden underneath the plate; a poem. They are unsure what this means and will be using their English lessons, using the book Paradise Sands by Levi Pinfold, to find out more. Very intriguing!

Meanwhile, the Year 4 children went on a river walk along the New River Loop, as part of their learning for their geography unit. As they came to the information sign, they discovered that it was neither new nor a river! Several geese and ducks were seen along the way and it provided a lovely opportunity to spend some learning time outside in the sunshine, following the loop over several bridges.

Year 5 Football Festival

Last week, Mrs Statham took ten Year 5 boys to take part in a Football Festival at Enfield Grammar School. Supported by Year 9 football mentors (including Dylan, one of our ex-pupils) the boys had a great time learning new drills and taking part in several mini matches against 11 other teams. A wonderful afternoon for all.

Reception take a trip to Crews Hill

This week, our youngest children took the bus to Crews Hill, as part of their topic on Growing. They looked around Woldens Garden Centre, before having a drink and a biscuit (one of the highlights of the trip) and making their way back on the bus. Many thanks to the parents and staff who supported on the day.

Reception children have also enjoyed watching the ducklings hatch in their classrooms. What a joy it has been to see this happen.
