Year 4 visit St. Andrew's Church

This week, our Year 4 classes visited Fr. Steve at the church. He spoke about the Old Testament and the stories of Moses, Abraham and King David. The children also played a game of True or False, working in groups to discuss scenarios, then fed back what the stories tell us about God. The children showed curiosity and listened with interest and respect throughout the visit.

St. Andrew's parent to run the London Marathon in April for Noah's Ark Hospice

Becky, mum to Louis and Ivor, will be running in the London Marathon this year and she has decided to use it as an opportunity to raise money for the Noah's Ark Hospice in Barnet, in Emma's memory.

Becky has set up a JustGiving page for anyone in the school community who wishes to donate. We wish Becky enormous luck! Click here for more details.

Year One learn to weave

Our Year One children have been very busy learning about weaving. They carefully weaved strips of paper (the weft) through a card cut into strips (the warp). They were very proud of their finished pieces. To complete their learning about polar animals, the children had great fun taking part in some performance poetry, using the well-known book 'Polar Bear, Polar Bear' by Eric Carle.

Year 2 Design and Technology project

Year 2 classrooms have been buzzing this week. We all know that children can be so creative with everyday objects and this was the case in their DT lessons. Based around the wonderful book 'Rosie Revere, Engineer' the children designed bridges and used their plans to make fabulous constructions. They also designed and made chairs for a bear. What a great week!

A message from Ms Malone - SENCo

This week, as part of the PINS Project, the school held a coffee morning for parents. It was a great opportunity for parents to come together, over tea and biscuits, to chat openly with each other. With members from 'Our Voice' present, parents were able to ask questions and share their experiences about neurodiversity and educational needs.

Our Voice is a parent and carer led organisation in Enfield that works with parents, to improve services for children with disabilities and special educational ideas. They have lots of information and resources to share. Our next coffee morning with Our Voice will be on Thursday 12th March at 9 a.m. Please come along!

RSPB School Birdwatch

Our youngest children have been taking part in the National RSPB Big Schools' Birdwatch. They made bird feeders and went out onto the playground and field area to tally all the birds they saw. These included pigeons, blue tits, parakeets and magpies.

Jackson and Hugo from Year 4 have also been bird-spotting during break and lunchtimes and were thrilled to log a red kite, mallards and a redwing. Thanks to the boys and the Reception children for their data, which has been passed on to the RSPB.

Alice and Freya teach a lesson in Year 3

This week, two of our Year 6 pupils came to talk to the Year 3 children about Judaism. Alice and Freya told the children about the Seder meal that they celebrate during Passover and spoke with confidence and great knowledge to both classes.

Y5 Lunchtime Quilling Club

Many of our clubs at school are run by the teachers and a popular one is Quilling Club. Quilling is a decorative art technique involving rolling strips of paper into coils with a special tool, to decorate cards and boxes. It is great to see our children learning new skills. Thanks to Ms Corbett for running the club in Year 5.
