With God's love, we live, learn and grow together

Emma

This newsletter is dedicated to honouring the memory of Emma, one of our
St. Andrew's pupils. In accordance with the family's wishes, we would like to share a message with our school community. They have asked for any donations
to be made to the Noah's Ark Children's Hospice. It was here that
Emma spent time with her family, surrounded by love, kindness and comfort.
In the family's own words;

"Throughout Emma's illness, the team at Noah's Ark Hospice walked alongside us. They supported Emma with music, play and moments of joy that we will always hold close. In Emma's memory, we are welcoming donations to Noah's Ark. Every contribution helps to ensure that children with life-limiting conditions, and those who love them, continue to be supported with dignity, compassion and hope."

Please click here if you wish to make a donation.

St. Andrew's Christmas Fayre

Last week, our Christmas Fayre took place after school. There had been a huge amount of preparation leading up to the day itself, with several parents volunteering to come in to collect donations, decorate areas, sort lighting and decorate Santa's grotto.

The fayre itself was a huge success. Santa and the elves were busy for the whole time, our chips and pizza slices sold out and all the stalls were busy. We hope to bring you news next week of how much was raised. A special thank you to
Selin and her Core PTA team and also to every parent, staff member, pupil and governor who helped in any way to make our fayre a success.

Year 6 attend The Lion King in London

This week, our Year 6 pupils went to Covent Garden to attend the matinee of The Lion King. This is the first time we have organised such a trip and it has taken many months of planning!

The children were very excited, as they boarded the bus, then the tube to Covent Garden. We had a little amount of time to see the Christmas lights near the Royal Opera House and the square itself, before taking our seats for a spectacular show.

The trip will no doubt be held in the children's memories for years to come. Many thanks to Mrs Statham for organising the event and to the Year 6 team and senior leaders for supporting the children.

Year 1 visit the V&A Museum

Our Year 1 children and staff visited the wonderful V&A Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green, to explore the range of toys through the ages. Linked to their history unit, the children couldn't believe that some of the 'artefacts' had been played with by their teachers, when they were young!

Thanks to the staff and parents who helped on the day.

What else has been happening in school?

In Year 3 science lessons, the children have been learning about the skeleton and practised 'striking a pose' using all parts of their skeleton!

In Year 4 DT lessons, the children have been planning and constructing pavilions, using lolly sticks and card. They look amazing!

This week, the children in Year 5 took part in a local fieldwork session in Enfield Town, as part of their learning in geography. They were able to observe some of the recent changes, particularly in and around Palace Gardens.

Some of our Year 6 pupils visited the elderly residents at Azalea Court, Bush Hill Park this week, to take part in some art and craft Christmas activities. It was lovely to listen to the engaging conversations between the generations and some truly beautiful moments for everyone.
