Classes with the highest attendance for:

Week ending 6th December are

RW and 5B  with 99% attendance.

Week ending 13th December, no classes reached 99%.

If your child has a mild illness, please continue to send them to school.

As we finished lighting our second candle for Advent, the theme for our Collective Worship sessions this week was 'Preparing for Christmas.' The children thought about how Mary might have prepared for the birth of her baby, the meaning of Advent and Christmas Love.

Next week, our Junior Choir will be busy bringing seasonal joy to visitors and staff at Chase Farm Hospital, singing at St. Andrew's Church on Sunday and visiting elderly residents in Azalea Court Residential Home in Bush Hill Park.

As we approach our final week of a very long term, our message to the children is to continue to show kindness to one another, at home, at school and online. We look forward to a wonderful final week with parties, a Christmas film and carols around the tree.

What a finish to the Autumn Term - thank you so much, PTA!

Worship Committee

Last week, our Worship Committee led whole school worship on the theme of Advent. Being part of a committee such as this has been very rewarding for the Year 5 and 6 pupils. One member said,

"It is fun leading worship, although scary at the same time. It is a big responsibility but we like it!"

After Christmas, our Year 6 pupils take a back seat to concentrate on their studies, whilst we enrol new members. A big thank you to our wonderful Y6 members for their commitment to the role.

Teamwork in Year 5

For the past two weeks, our Year 5 children have been making pulleys as part of their learning about mechanisms and forces. Using empty milk cartons, the children worked in teams to ensure their pulleys were successful.

Year 1 have been busy, busy, busy!

Last week was a very busy week for our Year 1 children and staff. So much learning in so many places! The trip to the Young V&A Museum was a highlight, as the children learned about toys from the past.

The two classes also took part in the Christmas Experience at the Enfield Town Community church. A truly immersive experience, as the children saw the nativity story brought to life.

Finally, some Year 10 students from Enfield Grammar carried out lots of science experiments with the children.  with a difference of nine school years between them, the two groups thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it was lovely to see some ex-pupils. A huge thank you to Mrs Meekin, Mrs Anderson and the Year 1 team. Our Y1 children have truly had the most incredible term so far!

Spelling Bee final

As we reported in the previous newsletter, our Year 5 and 6 team made it to the final against 3 other local schools. They performed really well, but were beaten by St. Michael's School. We are so proud of the team and a huge thank you again to Mrs Meekin for generating a real BUZZ for spelling!

What else has been happening?

This week, our Year 6 children saw a wonderful performance of Oliver Twist at Chace Community School.

Year 5 classes were out and about, looking at changes in infrastructure in Enfield Town.

Our Year 4 children went to Enfield Town Market Square to look at the pavilion, as part of their DT work on structures.

A festive Friday with Christmas Jumper and Christmas dinner Day. All the children were served their dinner by teachers and support staff. It was a noisy but very exciting lunchtime!

Success at the Indoor Athletics competition

This week, our Year 5 and 6 Athletics Team took part in the Indoor sports hall Athletics competition. All children performed well and we are thrilled to announce that we came 1st out of all the schools represented on the day and placed 3rd overall out of 14 schools. Well done to every member of the team and to Mrs Dilieto for organising the event.

Nativity Performances

{item_alt_tag}

This week and last week, the children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have delighted us with their own versions of the Nativity stories. Performing two shows in one day was a challenge for some children, but the audiences of parents and grandparents were so supportive and encouraging. There was story-telling, acting and singing throughout the shows and all the children stood proudly in their costumes.

Thanks to all the staff involved in putting these performances together. They take time and patience to achieve a high level of performance, as well as continuing to teach the rest of the curriculum. We look forward to seeing our Year 3 children present their Nativity at the Carol Service on Monday.
