A very busy half term

It is hard to believe that six weeks have gone by already, as we begin our final half term of the academic year. The weather has generally been good to us; we have been on the field almost every day since we came back in April.

At St. Andrew's, we are very proud of our grounds and like to show them off to visitors! Our school field, MUGA, gardens, pond area and climbing frames are all used to help every child to feel inspired, relaxed and happy when at school. We know that not every school in Enfield has all these wonderful areas in which to play, learn and enjoy.

There have been a record number of trips, workshops and events, too over 6 weeks. Trips to London, local parks, Forty Hall, Myddelton House, places of worship, the library, train and bus journeys and local walks, sporting achievements in Netball, Quadkids and Athletics - all  in just 6 weeks!

We have also hosted teacher development meetings, a Y1 phonics information meeting for parents and four PTA discos! It is definitely time for a break.

Enjoy the half term break and let's hope for some warm days ahead. Do check the website calendar for dates and we look forward to seeing you back on Tuesday 4th June.

Best wishes,

Mrs Statham and Miss Mann

SCHOOL STARTS BACK ON TUESDAY 4th JUNE

Year 6 post SATs trip to Broomfield Park

Last week, our Year 6 pupils took their end of key stage 2 tests or SATs. They completed six tests over the four days and on Friday, they were able to relax in the sunshine. A trip to Broomfield Park in Palmers Green was a perfect way to chill out, play on the vast field and have fun in the big playground. Ice lollies were provided, thanks to the PTA and everyone had a wonderful time.

Year 5 welcome the Enfield Caribbean Association

Last week, we welcomed some very special guests to St. Andrew's - members of the Enfield Caribbean Association. This is our second year of building our partnership with the ECA and it was such a treat to hear real life stories from Sharon and Sheridan. They talked to the Year 5 children about their life journeys, supporting the learning in History and English about the Windrush journeys and Migration.

Year 6 visit the Imperial War Museum

This week, our Year 6 children visited The Imperial War Museum in South London to support their learning about World War 2. This fascinating museum, with over 80,000 exhibits was the perfect way for them to learn more about what life was like for people all over the world during this time. As they made their way through the galleries, the children spent time studying the uniforms, as well as the amazing spitfires hanging overhead. Highlights were seeing the propaganda posters in real life, walking into an Anderson shelter and sitting in a 1940s front room.

Parents v Netball Team match

This week, our High 5 Netball Champions took on their parents in a friendly after school match. Both teams changed players throughout a series of matches and the parents certainly showed their skills from their school days! There were some nifty moves on the court from both teams and our parents certainly enjoyed the opportunity to show their children how to play as a team. However, the Year 6 netballers were supported by a noisy crowd of children and staff, who cheered them on to the end. The parents won overall, but the children gave a good game. A huge thank you to all the parents who took part and to Miss Chick and Miss Ferguson for all their efforts with the Netball Club this year.

Year 1 make the most of the outdoors

This week, , Year 1 children took their PE dance lesson outside to practise their country dancing - The Circassian Circle and the Pat-a-cake Polka. They also walked to Forty Hall in the sunshine, where they found lots of different minibeasts. The children and staff enjoyed playing in the river and the playground, too.
