A message from Mrs Statham

This half term seems to have flown by and now we are almost into June. In that short time, almost 20 workshops, trips or events have taken place across the year groups, from park trips to The Tower of London, from Tag Rugby tournaments to MYME workshops. Added to this, a pop up swimming pool for Y5 and Y6 swimming lessons and a week of SATS tests for Year 6! A huge thank you to all staff for their efforts in ensuring all of these things ran smoothly.

Today, we say farewell to Mrs Jacqui Reynolds, who is retiring after working at St. Andrew's for more than 27 years. From lunchtime supervisor, to a Learning Support Assistant and After School Club Manager, Jacqui has worked with and supported many children over that time and we are very appreciative of her commitment and support at St. Andrew's. We especially thank her for her support in Year 3 this year. We wish Jacqui a long and happy retirement and send our love and prayers to her.

Mrs Andrews also left this week, to begin her maternity leave. We wish Marie all the very best and look forward to hearing about the new arrival.

Finally, I would like to say a huge thank you to the staff at St. Andrew's. It takes a big team to ensure our pupils are offered the very best education, pastoral support and enrichment opportunities every day. I received a lovely letter from a parent this week, thanking the school for the opportunities we have given to her three children. It was a pleasure to read such a positive  letter. I wish all the staff a well-deserved rest in half term.

Keep safe and well in the coming week ahead. We look forward to a final half term of sports events, Arts Week, performances and more trips!

Arts Week 15th - 19th June 2026

Parent Experts needed for Arts Week

Last week, Mrs Statham emailed parents, asking them to contact the office if they had a talent or skill they would like to share with a class or group during Arts Week. So far, we only have one volunteer and we know there are so many more creative parents in our community! Please contact the school office if you are able to demonstrate a skill in photography, origami, electric guitar, watercolour painting, henna hand patterns, sewing, to name a few. Thank you.

Auditions for The Talent Show

Children in Y1 to Y6 have now signed up to auditions for the talent show. Auditions will start on Wed 3rd June and will run every lunchtime for 9 days. All children will be informed when their date and time will be after half term.

Important messages from the school office

School Lunches

All school lunches MUST be ordered using the parent portal app by Monday 1st June. Parents were sent their log in details some time ago via email so do check back. Please, please help the office staff by completing this before we come back to school.

Contacting the office

Due to Mrs Andrews now being on maternity leave, the office staff will be very busy first thing in the morning. Here are some ways in which you can find out information before you contact the school office:

  • Please use your Class Reps to find out general information regarding your child's class, trips, events, etc
  • Use the website for dates on the calendar
  • Check your parent portal for messages
  • Read the school newsletter. The link is emailed to parents every fortnight
  •  If not urgent, please kindly leave a message or an email and Mrs Bryant will respond to this in due course.
  • All emails to be sent to admin@st-andrews-enfield.enfield.sch.uk

Many thanks for your support

Walk to School Week 20th May

We know that some children are not able to walk to school, for different reasons. So this morning, as part of the national Walk to School Week, Mrs Hill arranged for the whole school to walk around the school instead! We went out of the Churchbury Lane gate, turned right six times and ended up back in school! It was lovely to see older and younger children chatting on the way in the glorious sunshine and everyone gained a sticker, too.

Year 2 visit the mosque

On Thursday, Year 2 children visited the Mosque in Palmers Green to support their understanding of Islam in RE. They particularly were interested in looking at the beautiful patterns inside the building, on the ceiling, floor and on the walls.

Reception trips to Oakwood Park

Reception children were well-prepared for the damp weather, as they boarded the bus to Oakwood Park this week. They had to follow a map to find key areas of the park and then spent time in the playground. We continue to promote enrichment opportunities for all year groups (whatever the weather!) and our experienced staff and helpful parent volunteers make these trips possible.

Post SATS trip to Broomfield Park

Last week, our Year 6 pupils completed their end of KS2 national tests. They have been an amazing cohort of learners, working so hard in all subjects over the year. The week ended with a fantastic day out at Broomfield Park. The children spent almost 5 hours playing cricket, football and playing in the playground. Many thanks to the PTA for the ice creams!

Year 1 visit Forty Hall

Year 1 children spent an amazing day at Forty Hall, this week. On their mini beast hunt, they spotted beetles, butterflies and bees. They were lucky enough to stumble across an archaeologist, who spoke to them about the remains of Elsyng Palace! The Royal Tudor Palace was frequented by Henry VIII and over the years, the area has been excavated to reveal parts of the palace walls and its contents.

The Enfield Archaeological Society is inviting parents and children to come and visit the site on Saturday 18th July.

Staff and families walk for charity

Over the past two weeks, several staff and families have taken part in charity events across Enfield and London. Mrs Dilieto took part n the Big Fun Walk to raise money for the North London Hospice. Kian and Rohan from Year 3 also took part and were very proud of their medals. Mrs Statham and Miss Mann joined hundreds of families in the Nightingale 15km Night Hike last Friday around Enfield, to raise money for the Enfield Nightingale Cancer Care charity. Well done to all our walkers!

Year 5 and year 6 Swimming lessons in the pop up pool

For the past few weeks, we have had a pop up pool in the playground and almost 120 children have had lessons every day in there. This was the school's first time using a pop up pool and despite some teething problems with the pump and the temperature, all children thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was wonderful to see children who were rather nervous about swimming to finish the week with such confidence and resilience. Layla, the swimming instructor, praised our children for their positive attitudes and willingness to persevere. A big thanks to the huge team of adults who were involved in making this a success.
