A Spring in our step

Our Ofsted Inspection report was finally published last week and as a school, we are all relieved and very pleased with the outcome. We have received many emails from parents, congratulating the staff and the school on a wonderful report. It is always lovely to receive these positive and supportive comments, so thank you!

Our week started in Collective Worship with the children guessing the name of the teacher reading out their favourite book. A wonderful World Book Day on Thursday was filled with so much pleasure. Please read on to find out more.

We welcome some new pupils and families to our school community this term. We hope the children settle in well and enjoy their first few weeks with us.

Parents, please check the curriculum letters to learn about the exciting half term ahead for your child.

Sporting Achievements

Year 3 and 4 Football tournament

This week, our Year 3 and 4 girls' football team took part in their first ever tournament at Edmonton County School. Though a little nervous to begin with, the players soon settled into the games, winning two matches, drawing one and losing one. The girls came third in their group, which was a great achievement, having never played together before this time. We look forward to more games in the coming months ahead.

Hi 5 Netball winners

Our  netball team attended the first of 3 tournaments at Enfield County School this week. The team played two matches and we are thrilled to have won both matches. This is a great start after our overall win last year. Well done to all the players and to Ms Ferguson and Miss Chick for leading the club.

Year 4 Cross Country competition

This week, we took two Year 4 teams to the Cross Country Competition. For some, it was their first event. All ten children performed really well, with Charlie taking first place and the boys claiming third place overall. Well done to all our runners and a big thank you to Mrs Dilieto and Coach Kymani for supporting the teams.

WORLD BOOK DAY 2025

This week, the whole school took part in World Book Day, a day of celebrating the joy of books, reading and story-telling.

The children and staff looked amazing in their costumes, with a whole range of characters from books. We saw Katniss from The Hunger Games, The Enormous Crocodile, Gangsta Granny, Sherlock Holmes, The Cat in the Hat and even an Oxford Dictionary!

At St. Andrew's, we are passionate about books of all kinds and this was seen at our teacher swap in the morning. Every class moved to a different part of the school to listen to a new teacher read a story, take a quiz or share a poem.

Other events included a live Footy and Booky Quiz for some of the children in Years 4, 5 and 6, buddy sessions with Y2 and 6 making bookmarks and lots of opportunities to share a story. To complete the day, the PTA worked so hard to organise a Golden Bar Sale with pre-ordered bars sent home. Golden tickets were placed inside some of the tickets - we shall find out next week who has won a ticket.

A big thanks to the PTA for buying the chocolate, taking the orders, wrapping the bars and sorting them into classes.

Other information for parents

Vaping and Smoking

The school has received calls regarding seeing parents vaping and smoking outside the school gates and into the school itself. We cannot enforce rules on the pavement areas outside the school. However, we strongly ask that all parents refrain from vaping and smoking near the school site during drop off and pick up times. Thank you.

Secondary School Places

Our Year 6 pupils have now received their secondary school places for September. If any parents would like to speak to Mrs Statham or Miss Mann about this, please contact the school office.

The Pantry

A reminder that all families are welcome to visit our foodbank at drop off every morning. Please see a member of staff in the mornings for more information.

Supporting Families in Enfield

This week, parents were emailed a series of workshops organised by My Young Mind Enfield (MYME). These workshops are free to all parents who may be struggling with managing their child's behaviours at home, managing emotions or anxiety. One of the courses is shown below. The workshops are online and are a really informative way to support parents. Please see the email sent out for details on how to sign up.

Online parent meetings

A letter has been emailed out to parents this week, with details of how to sign up for a meeting with the class teacher. The meetings will take place week beginning 17th March.

Open Afternoon - Save the Date

We will be holding an open day for parents on Friday 28th March from 3.30pm- 4.15pm. The afternoon gives parents and children an opportunity to visit their own classroom, look at the work on show around the school and see other areas of the school building. It is a good time to look at where the classrooms are for  when your child moves year group in September.
