Art Gallery and Sale

This week, we ran our Art Sale after school, selling the canvas paintings which the children produced during Arts Week.  We saw some wonderful paintings, based on artists such as Paul Klee, Frank Bowling and Brigitte Riley. The money raised will be used to buy more glockenspiels for whole class music lessons, clay tools and printing inks for art and music workshops in the future.

Sports Day Success

This week, the whole school took part in two sports days on a rather hot day. Thanks to a lot of preparation beforehand from staff, the children were well-prepared for their events.

A huge thank you to all the parents and family members who came to support. They brought such joy and encouragement to all the children as they moved around the activities. As the final relays took place in the KS2 sports event, the results were read out. Only one point separated second and first places; however congratulations to MENDEL House who came first this year.

Thank you to our Year 6 House and Vice Captains, School Council and Worship Committee pupils members for helping the younger children and to our PTA members for running a drinks stall for both sports days.

Year 2 enjoy a fabulous day at Chalkwell Beach

What a busy week it has been for our Year 2 children and staff! With buckets and spades in hands, the children set off by coach to Chalkwell in Essex to have a day of sandcastle building, shell finding and paddling! Although it was a hot day, our Year 2 parents had prepared the children well, with hats, sun cream and water, which made it so much easier for the staff to enjoy, too. This is such an important trip for many of our children, as lots of 'firsts' happen - first time on a coach, first time to the seaside, first time paddling in the sea, first time building a hole in the sand. The list goes on...

Thank you to those parents who emailed the office with thanks to the staff for organising such a wonderful and memorable trip. We really appreciate the positive feedback.

Year 1 visit the Science Museum

Today, our Year 1 classes had a fantastic trip to the Science Museum, to find out all about transport from the past. They saw planes, trains, cars and even rockets! The children loved finding things in the modern world that do not look the same as when they were first invented. A huge thank you to the Year 1 team and to all the parents who accompanied the children on the trip.

Year 5 pupils attend Enfield Grammar
Music and Sports afternoon

This week, some of our Year 5 pupils took part in a fun afternoon at Enfield Grammar School. As one of our closest secondary schools, we have close links with the staff and students there. The children had lots of fun throughout the day, taking part in a number of music and sport activities and the teachers were very complementary about their behaviour and engagement.

Meet our Worship Committee

We are responsible for choosing the music at the start of Worship, choosing images to go with the music and plan Acts of Worship to lead for the whole school. We also have our own board in the corridor, to keep everybody up to date with the things we are doing. We have been on an amazing trip to St Paul’s Cathedral in London where we joined school from across the whole of worship in a service. We even met with teachers from other schools who wanted to see how we lead Collective Worship. We are now looking for Year 4 members to join us in September.

What else has been happening?

Over the weeks, we have been welcoming our new Reception starters and parents to Come and Play sessions for an hour. It was lovely to meet our new families and we look forward to the children starting in September.

The PTA members have been working tirelessly behind the scenes, getting ready for the Summer Sizzle on 6th July. They need parents to help with all kinds of jobs, big and small. Please contact your Class Rep if you are able to help in any way.

Last Friday, Mrs Bolton ran a SEND coffee morning at school. All parents were invited to attend and Liz from the Enfield Advisory Service for Autism (EASA) talked to the parents about where they can get help and advice for a child with specific and special needs.

And finally, a huge thank you to all the staff at St. Andrew's. They continue to go above and beyond to ensure the children have the best opportunities to learn, to play and to succeed. From office staff to teachers, support staff and site manager, every person is part of our St. Andrew's community and deserves to be thanked.
