At St. Andrew’s we teach French as our Modern Foreign Language to all Junior children (KS2). We are following a programme called Rigolo, run by the London Grid for Learning. The programme is a fun and interactive means of introducing a new language to the children and involves lots of practical speaking and listening activities, songs and games.
In Years 3 and 4, the teachers start with Unit 1. For some year groups, this will be a completely new, exciting experience. For other year groups they may have been introduced to French in previous years and will therefore move more quickly through the programme. Please see the curriculum overview, below.
In Year 6, we are fortunate to have a french teacher from one of the local secondary schools, who teaches French every week to alternate classes. This begins in the Autumn term.
